Country Information
• Nepal is a landlocked country in central Asia bordered by India and Tibet.
• It is about 5 hours ahead of GMT.
• It has an incredibly diverse landscape with the mountainous Himalayas sweeping down onto the plains of the Terai region.
• Its demographic is also diverse, with more than 70 castes speaking a plethora of local dialects on top of the widely spoken national language Nepali.
• According to data published by the World Bank, Nepal has a GDP per capita of about 694.10 USD, categorising it in the lower income bracket with over one quarter of the population under the poverty line.
• Hinduism and Buddhism are the two prevalent religions however Nepalis are widely accepting of different Gods which results in an interesting mix of religion and shamanism.
• Its year begins in April and Saturday is considered the national holiday.
• The economy is reliant primarily on Agriculture and Tourism.
